Toledo is the main historical and cultural centre of all Castile-La Mancha. An entire CD --the PN-010, first CD of PNEUMA-- has been dedicated to the Cantigas of Toledo as they are so numerous and rich in detail. In the Cantigas de Castilla-La Mancha CD there is the Cantiga of Consuegra de Toledo, town where, near the 13th century castle of the Order of St. John, stand the windmills that are as immortal as Don Quixote of La Mancha himself. There the Moor of Almeria was converted, as related in this cantiga that contains harsh words against the Islamic faith. This recording of the Cantigas de Castilla-La Mancha will hopefully reflect these beautiful melodies and their stories in all their splendour.
