About Us

Fish Fine Music Sydney

Fish Fine Music was born in 1982 as two small stores known as The Record Collector. After almost a decade as Sydney's largest classical music retailer, the company expanded to include popular music stores and in 1991 we rebranded ourselves as Fish Records.

Our famous store in George Street Sydney was then established as Fish Fine Music and over the next seventeen years we developed the reputation as Sydney's leading classical & jazz retailer.

In 2006, we opened our second Fish Fine Music store in Sydney's historic Queen Victoria Building and 2007 saw the launch of our online store, establishing us as Australia's largest range of CDs and DVD, with the knowledge of our expert staff now accessible to anyone around the world.

The growing success of our independently owned business prompted us to move our original George Street store to a bigger location. Located on the corner of King & Clarence Streets in Sydney's CBD, our new store was officially opened in August 2008 across two floors, with Fish Fine Music upstairs and our newest addition to the family, Fish Global Music, downstairs.

Fish Fine Music exists purely because our team has a passion for music. Our policy is to carry the largest in-store range of CDs and DVDs in Australia, while providing our expert knowledge and efficient online services both online and to our loyal and ever-increasing customer base.

Nearly 30 years on, our focus remains true to the specialist genres of classical, jazz, opera, showtunes & nostalgia. Now with our Fish Global Music specialty store, we have added world music, world movies, folk, new age & ambient to the list, as well as our continuing focus on supporting Australian music and local artists.

We welcome you to both our online store and our two Sydney City locations, and endeavour to bring you the fine music you want with the finest of service.
